Our Club Projects
Rotarians have long been making substantial and lasting contributions to their communities and to the world. To a large extent, Rotary’s reputation is built on the projects undertaken by Rotarians.
Collaboration with WomenShelter of Long Beach
If you have toiletries from hotels and other new hygiene products, please bring them to the Thursday Rotary meetings at Curley's. These will be donated to the WomenShelter of Long Beach to help these women and children ease the transition during this difficult stage of their lives.
Nancy Long School Supplies Program
Signal Hill Rotarians volunteer with local residents to help provide and pack over 2,100 back-to-school supply bags for students in Signal Hill. We partner with the Signal Hill Police Department, who generously offer their police station for assembly and storage of the backpacks. The program started with donations from Robert Long and Nancy Long, longtime Signal Hill residents and past Rotary presidents.
We also collaborate with Costco and EDCO, who provide 600 backpacks and the storage containers to transport the school supplies, respectively. The packs of school supplies include binders, composition books, ruled paper, graph paper, scissors, rulers, pencil sharpeners, colored pencils/crayons, folders, glue sticks and erasers.
These backpacks provide the necessary tools for students to succeed. These are given to all Signal Hill students from kindergarten to middle school.
